Fortify: App Lock

Privacy

Your Mac keeps your data.

Fortify: App Lock is a lock for your apps. It doesn’t need to know who you are, and it doesn’t send what it sees anywhere.

No network access

Fortify never connects to the internet. There is no account, no analytics, no telemetry and no update checks. The list of apps you lock and your settings are stored on your Mac.

Your PIN is never stored as typed. Only a salted PBKDF2-SHA256 hash is kept, in the app’s preferences on your Mac.

Accessibility permission

Fortify uses Accessibility permission only to keep locked apps hidden: it hides a locked app when it opens and notices when an unlocked one is minimized or closed. It looks at which windows are open, not what’s in them.

Notifications

Notifications are used only for the “‹App› locked” banner after you use the lock shortcut.

This website

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure how fast pages load. It sets no cookies and doesn’t build a profile of you. The app itself sends nothing.

Check it yourself

Fortify is open source, so you don’t have to take our word for any of this. The full source is on GitHub, and you can build the app from it yourself.

Read the source on GitHub, orget in touch with questions.
